FAQ
Concrete is locally made and can last for many decades with proper care. As sealers extend the useful life of concrete, they are an important component of “green†building. The Sealer Guy offers an award-winning, environment-friendly sealer.
Because they penetrate the concrete, reactive chemical sealers will last the longest and generally only wear away if the substrate surface itself wears away, which may be 2 to 5 years.
Most acrylic-resin sealers and certain reactive penetrating sealers should be applied as soon as new concrete can withstand the weight of the installer. Other reactive penetrating sealers and most high-performance sealers should only be applied after the concrete is fully cured (generally 28 days). Almost all sealers can be applied after the concrete is 28 days old.
That depends on the type of sealer you apply. Most chemically reactive sealers are nearly invisible because they penetrate into the concrete. Solvent-based acrylic resin sealers provide significant colour enhancement and give concrete a high-gloss wet look.
The Sealer Guy Enhansing Sealer is a hybrid that provides both a lift in color and a hardener that strengthens your concrete, makes cleaning easier, and ensures a non-slip surface.
LConcrete is a porous material that readily absorbs liquids, and the single biggest impact on your concrete will be weather. Rain erodes concrete. In addition oil, salt, fertilizer, and other household chemicals can discolor and damage unsealed concrete. Sealing will ensure that your concrete will be easier to clean and maintain, while also providing significantly longer life.
Yes. We will consult with you before, during and after any work that we perform in order to meet or exceed your expectations.
Yes.
Yes. Variations amongst pavers is normal. The degree of difference between them depends upon the colour and composition of your surface. You will see only minimal change from their original state after installation, cleaning and sealing.
We take every precaution to protect all of the environment on your property. Our products and processes will ensure that all of our work is carried out in the safest manner possible. During key stages of the procedure, we will coordinate with you to verify that children and pets are located away from the work zone.
We can provide you with simple cleaning and maintenance tips using products readily available from your local supermarket. We also provide periodic maintenance contracts for deep cleaning and full restoration.
We manufacture a variety of sealers, including environmentally friendly options. You can choose whichever of these styles that best matches your vision for the project:
natural dry look (non-slip)
colour enhancing (non-slip)
environmentally friendly dry look (non-slip)
wet look
The total area of your job will dictate this. We can clean and prepare surfaces in wet weather, but dry conditions are imperative for all sealing work. Cleaning and preparation for an area of 100 – 150 square meters will take approximately one working day, while the sealing operation takes considerably less time.
This will depend on the products used in your installation. We can generally start work with a two-week notice but any sealing will require dry weather for a period of one to two days.
As concrete hardens (cures), it forms a light white “crust†that needs to be removed in order to reveal the true colour of the concrete mix and the desired appearance of its composition. It is also required if you want to seal your concrete.
The primary reason is to remove the excess grout that is left after installation, and to remove any surface residue from the manufacturing process. It is also required if you want to seal your pavers.
If done incorrectly, it can permanently scar the surface and alter the aesthetics—so professional application is strongly advised.
Normally, a highly diluted mixture of hydrochloric acid and water is used, but there are non-hazardous, eco-friendly options available, as well.
